We new a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity,
You know, Surrender is probably the most wide spread, issues people have in coming to / and staying with recover. We would almost rather do anything else than admit defeat. An AA writer put it "That is what is insane about addiction. Considering that you can go out and do the same stuff and expecting to control what has control over us, that idea defines insane."
We have always called it "going out and doing the same old thing, while expecting a different result." It is hard to admit we have lost control of something relating to us. Yet do we not know that in order to get well from an illness we have to listen to the doctor’s instructions. Follow his plan for us, so we will not walk around in agony, feeling the pain is sabotaged before we begin. We find ourselves saying or doing things we have to apologize for yesterday or ten minutes ago, because we allow the illness to speak for us. Our Plan, For Sobriety and Salvation has intricately been mapped out for us to follow we call it the Big Book and The Bible. Our physician just asks us to write it on the tablets of our hearts whereas we will not be led a stray or devoured by the enemy that searched for a heart to destroy.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." Luke 22:19-30 (NIV)

In the Bible, when people totally surrender themselves to God, they’re often described as ‘broken.’

God works wonders with what is broken… Why? Because we surrender our will and our lives, more importantly because the work is not superficial, it is not wall covering, or a fancy pain job that is going to need to be re-painted next year. It is not the beautiful car that has no working parts inside. When God does a work it is from the inside out. God uses broken things for world changing purposes. When our lives are broken before the Lord, It’s his light that is able to shine through the cracks doing a good work in us, allowing us to take inventory resolving the old and make room for the new.

It is a process, it is a start to a new journey that will enlighten, enrich and form us to be the example of His Love to those we are around, no matter where we go He will guild us, He will Strengthen us He will make us whole.
